What are common illness-causing germs in your home?

Germs are everywhere! They are on you as go about your daily routines, they are even on the screen you are reading this on, and everything you touch. They have been on earth before humans. Therefore, you shouldn’t fear germs except a few because generally they are non-dangerous and our immune systems are strong enough to keep us healthy. However, this doesn’t mean germs shouldn’t be killed, or measures shouldn’t be taken to prevent germs from spreading in your home

 

On the contrary, we should clean and sanitise our homes frequently to keep all types of microbes at bay because we cannot specifically target common illness-causing germs in our homes from ones that don’t harm us. E. coli 0157

E. coli are common bacteria found in households; however; its strain 0157 is harmful. This bacterium strain can cause severe intestinal illness. The infected host can experience abdominal pain and diarrhoea. 

 

MRSA (meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are present in households, but its MRSA strain is dangerous because it is resistant to most antibiotics. However, you can reduce the chances of catching an illness due to MRSA by washing your hands with soap and warm water regularly. 

 

Norovirus
